How to Calculate Flooring Needed
For a rectangular room, first calculate the floor area:
Floor area = Length × Width
Then add the waste allowance:
Flooring needed = Floor area × (1 + Waste percentage ÷ 100)

How to Calculate Flooring Boxes
If one box covers a known number of square feet, divide the total flooring area including waste by the coverage per box and round up:
Boxes needed = Ceiling(Flooring needed ÷ Coverage per box)
Does the Calculator Include Flooring Cost?
