In this example, the required score is approximately 101.67%. Because that is above 100%, a 90% overall grade cannot be reached through the final exam alone. The maximum possible overall grade would be 89.50% if you earned 100% on the final.
What If the Required Final Grade Is Over 100%?
A required score above 100% means the target is not mathematically achievable from the final exam alone under the assumptions you entered. This does not necessarily mean the course is lost. You may still have opportunities such as extra credit, dropped assignments, grade corrections, or other assessments, depending on your instructor's policy.
