How to Calculate a Percentage Grade
To calculate a percentage grade, divide the number of points earned by the total number of points possible, then multiply the result by 100.

Suppose you earned 85 points on a test worth 100 points.
The calculation is:
(85 ÷ 100) × 100 = 85%

What If the Total Points Are Different?
The total number of points does not have to be 100. The same formula works for any number of points.
For example, if you earned 42 points out of 50:
(42 ÷ 50) × 100 = 84%
So your percentage grade would be 84%.

This calculator uses the following grading scale:
- A+ = 97%–100%
- A = 93%–96.99%
- A- = 90%–92.99%
- B+ = 87%–89.99%
- B = 83%–86.99%
- B- = 80%–82.99%
- C+ = 77%–79.99%
- C = 73%–76.99%
- C- = 70%–72.99%
- D+ = 67%–69.99%
- D = 63%–66.99%
- D- = 60%–62.99%
- F = below 60%
